Kenbe Fem Children’s Home

Kenbe Fem Home was originally founded by a Canadian foundation in 2000, when the original 20 children were accepted into the orphanage. In 2005 Danny and Leann Pye came to work for the foundation overseeing the children’s Home. In 2006, the foundation choose to leave Haiti suddenly, and after much prayer and council, Danny and Leann took over the orphanage and the ministries of the original foundation, and began their own 501 (c) 3 organization. In 2010 a heart wrenching separation leading to the illegal removal of Danny and Leann Pye and almost all ministry once founded by the organization, law suites that followed, then the illegal arrest of Danny Pye, forced Danny and Leann Pye once again to name an organization and to re-raise support and awareness for his family and for the ministries. Hence, the founding of Kenbe Fem.
Kenbe Fem has grown and been blessed richly under the guidance and leadership of Danny and Leann Pye. In 2006 changing from a structure of the institution of an orphanage to a children’s home has proven wonders in spiritual and intellectual growth. Despite many trials and hardships Kenbe Fem Children’s home has stayed strong as a family, in their faith, and God has been faithful to meet all their needs.
Our home is currently made up of 22 children living in our home, from the ages of 7 years old to 22 years old, 11 boys and 11 girls, ranging grades in school to third grade to Rheto (the last two years of High school) We have 2 children that have already grown and left our home as adults on in College in California, and one attending trade school locally in Jacmel. Our vision is to raise up our kids in a family environment, as our own, not adopting them out, in a positive, Christian environment, with hopes to change Jacmel, and ultimately Haiti from the inside out. Our vision some day is to begin additional children’s home using the same model of 20 children in each home, raised by a Haitian family. We intentionally focus on children older then 5-12 years old, as we have found it almost impossible to find placement for kids at this age, and is the greatest need.
God has blessed our family with two beautiful grandchildren as well. Dav and Jevondy ranging from a few months old to just under two years old.
All our children come from heart wrenching stories of slavery, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and neglect. Abandoned some more than once, rescued and brought into our family to be loved nurtured, and raised in a safe caring family environment. Although we are a large family, with the faithful supporters of many we still act very much like a family, with the separation of chores and responsibilities, the occasional vacations, kids participating in varies athletic, academic, and musical training and activities. We intentionally raise girls and boys, men and women side by side, of course taking the appropriate precautions and needed separations, in order to train the boys proper ways to treat their sisters, and vise versa for the girls to the boys, in hopes to prepare them adequately as they enter into adult hood and eventually marry, and have kids of their own will know the appropriate way to treat their spouse and children.
Our children’s home is supported primarily by our child sponsorship program, and would not exist without the faithful support of many. Please consider to sponsor a child today.
